2K signs with NFL to do non-simulation football games.

The NFL has agreed to a multi-year contract with 2K to do non-simulation licensed games based on the sport. This means you will not see a return of NFL2K, but most likely arcade offshoots such as NFL Blitz or Street. There will probably also means team manager games like EA’s NFL Head Coach during the PlayStation 2 days. There hasn’t been an NFL 2K title since 2004 with the excellent ESPN NFL 2K5 deemed by sim fans as one of the best if not greatest American football sim of all time. A year later, EA signed up with the NFL to have the Madden series becoming the sole NFL sim on the market. Hopefully, this will ease the NFL into having 2K and other publishers like Sony to be able to make sims again. The competition allows players choice and does improve quality.
