E3 2018 is off to a pretty good start in terms of announcements during this pre-show weekend. One of the biggest announcements (so far) has come from Capcom with the reveal of Devil May Cry 5.
Devil May Cry fans that were unhappy with the fun but ultimately unnecessary reboot of the series (Ninja Theory’s DMC) will be happy to know that this story picks up where the series left off before the reboot. Now, 10 years since the release of Devil May Cry 4, Director Hideaki Itsuno returns to the franchise to conclude the saga of the Sons of Sparda.
Devil May Cry 5 once again places players in the shoes of demon hunter Nero who suspiciously resembles Dante from the DMC reboot (complete with an RV) more than his look from Devil May Cry 4. In a location known as Red Grave City a “Demon Tree” begins to grow and a demonic invasion ensues. Nero is missing his demonic arm (which has been replaced with a more cybernetic looking one) but nevertheless he decides to head in and take on this demonic invasion with his new partner Nico.
The E3 reveal trailer showcases some amazing graphics and the over the top action that the series has been known for since the original Devil May Cry back in 2001. An older Dante does make an appearance in the trailer and chances are he will be playable at some point in the game.
Devil May Cry 5 will be released on consoles and PC in Spring 2019.

Fun Fact: I actually bought Resident Evil: Code Veronica X (which I love by the way) on PS2 when it was released just to get my hands on the demo for the original Devil May Cry.
