Yesterday Rockstar Games let us all in on a secret that has obviously eluded us for generations. Spring actually begins in October. Red Dead Redemption 2‘s release window has changed from Fall 2017 to Spring 2018 to the official street date of October 26, 2018.
In a statement yesterday, Rockstar explained the delay:
We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.
We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks.
While these delays are nothing new when it comes to games coming from Rockstar (and the games are usually great as a result) It is probably safe to say that they are using the extra time to inject as many microtransactions in to the multiplayer (ala GTA V) as possible before release. We can only hope Rockstar listens to their fans and give the game story based expansions as well as online DLC.
