Sony Unveils PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim

The PS4 Pro

The PS4 NEO as we have all grown accustomed to calling it, has finally been officially announced by Sony as the PS4 Pro. The PS4 Pro features a more powerful GPU and a faster GPU than the current PS4 along with full 4K resolution and High Dynamic Range (HDR). The result of these new upgrades means games feature more detail with visuals that “look much closer to the way your eyes see the real world.”

While the PS4 Pro is designed to be maximized by users with 4K displays, the system will also improve visuals on standard HD sets as well. Developers are already working to update currently available titles to utilize the PS4 Pro hardware with many to be ready on the system’s launch. Titles such as Infamous Second Son/First Light as well as Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 are already confirmed to have day one updates and games such as Horizon: Zero Dawn will launch to take advantage of the Pro hardware.

Sony also noted that they are working on bringing 4K video services to the PS4 Pro such as a new, 4K compatible Netflix app that will be available at launch and the currently in development 4K Youtube app.

The PS4 Pro will launch on November 10, 2016 for $399.99 and will ship with a 1TB HDD.

  1. I actually didn’t know anything about HDR when I got my 4K TV and the one I got i not HDR compatible. I still think I will trade in for a PS4 Pro to see if it is all they say.
